Subject The topic of the resource Monografia Description An account of the resource Disfunção temporomandibular (DTM) é um termo coletivo para um grupo de condições musculoesqueléticas envolvendo dor e/ou disfunção nos músculos mastigatórios, articulações temporomandibulares (ATM) e estruturas adjacentes do sistema estomatognático. A prevalência das DTM varia entre 5 e 10% na população, sendo mais prevalente no sexo feminino e em adultos jovens. No entanto, 45,3% dos pacientes com DTM apresentam distúrbios musculares. A etiologia das DTM é multifatorial e envolve variáveis intrínsecas e extrínsecas, como fatores ambientais, emocionais, comportamentais, hormonais, genéticos e físicos, no início e na manutenção da dor muscular crônica e disfunção. Para um sistema ser considerado autoligado ele deve possuir dispositivos que podem ser travas ou clipes, que mantém o fio ortodôntico dentro do seu slot, podendo ser ativo ou passivo.
