O movimento de verticalização de molar, sem provocar sua extrusão, é de difícil realização e, frequentemente, produz contatos prematuros e abertura de mordida. A sobremordida profunda pode ser corrigida através da extrusão de dentes posteriores ou intrusão de dentes anteriores. Para extrusão de dentes posteriores, tem-se utilizado aparelhagem fixa com utilização de arcos com curva reversa inferior e acentuada superior. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo relatar um caso clínico em que o aparelho Jones Jig foi modificado para uso na arcada inferior a fim de distalizar um molar. A associação deste com um dispositivo de ancoragem temporária (DAT) aumenta o controle tridimensional do dente, descartando qualquer inclinação indesejada. A modificação do aparelho Jones Jig para a distalização de molar inferior associado ao DAT foi completamente eficaz e sem efeito colateral algum.
