Entretanto, o preparo do canal cementário ainda é um tema bastante controverso entre os endodontistas. Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar um caso clínico de uma reintervenção endodôntica onde realizada a ampliação foraminal como tecnica para combater uma infecção persistente. Foi realizado o retratamento endodôntico e ampliação foraminal no dente 25. Entre as sessões o paciente já se encontrava sem sintomatologia, após o termino do tratamento a paciente retornou para avaliação radiográfica com 6 meses o que constatou uma cicatrização tecidual significativa da lesão inicial. Foi concluído que a ampliação foraminal mostra-se uma excelente tecnica auxiliar ao tratamento endodôntico convencional, produzindo efeitos benéficos ao paciente portador de infecção endodôntica persistente.
