Três pacientes do sexo feminino com idades entre 39 e 47 anos, que apresentavam assimetria do lábio inferior, foram tratadas com injeções de TBxA. Em todos os casos foi observada hipofunção do músculo abaixador do lábio inferior unilateral com diferentes etiologias. 2UI de toxina botulínica foi injetada no músculo abaixador do lábio inferior, contra-lateral ao desvio. Após 15 dias, as pacientes retornaram, os resultados foram analisados através de exames clínico e fotográfico em repouso e durante os principais movimentos. Em todos os casos foi observada a resolução das assimetrias no repouso e em apenas um dos casos persistiu desvio leve durante a fala e o sorriso. A duração do efeito da TBxA variou de 3 a 5 meses e as pacientes mostraram-se satisfeitas. A toxina botulínica é uma ferramenta útil na correção das assimetrias do lábio inferior. A finalidade deste trabalho de revisão de literatura foi estudar através de embasamentos científicos, a relação entre a reabsorção radicular e o tratamento ortodôntico. A reabsorção radicular da movimentação dentária induzia é o ônus do tratamento ortodôntico, ela é clinicamente aceitável, onde o grau de encurtamento da raiz não afeta a longevidade nem a função dos dentes envolvidos, sendo que as melhorias estéticas e funcionais justificam os riscos. Apenas 5% das reabsorções causada pelo tratamento ortodôntico são graves, e a mesma cessa quando o tratamento é interrompido ou finalizado.
