A partir de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, investigaram-se as principais vantagens, desvantagens, indicações e contraindicações desses dispositivos. Constatou-se que, além da independência com relação à colaboração do paciente, os propulsores mandibulares fixos promovem, não só alterações dentoalveolares, compensando a distoclusão, como também propicia efeitos esqueléticos, em muitos casos.
