Por outro lado, a grande deficiência do sistema de braquetes autoligados de tamanho único de slot é a dificuldade no controle de torque durante mecânicas mais complexas e principalmente na fase final do tratamento. Por este motivo se faz fundamental a utilização de bráquetes com diferentes tamanhos de slot – técnica bidimensional, onde os braquetes dos incisivos superiores e inferiores são de calibre menor que dos demais dentes. E, a fim de se obter um controle de torque ainda maior nos incisivos, utilizamos bráquetes com interação ativa nestes dentes, enquanto que, nos demais, a interação se faz de maneira passiva. Esta revisão nos mostra que, este sistema de bráquetes, associado à utilização de fios inteligentes e principalmente a um bom diagnóstico e planejamento, permite ao ortodontista resultados clínicos excelentes, em um curto espaço de tempo, com maior conforto para o paciente e sem prejuízos biológicos aos dentes e a todo sistema estomatognático.
