Estudos, suposições e opiniões tentam lançar luz sobre essa possível relação. O objetivo desta sistemática revisão foi investigar a associação entre endometriose e doença periodontal. Métodos: Foram utilizadas as seguintes bases de dados: Medline, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, e Goolge Scholar os descritores utilizados foram: Endometriosis and Periodontal Disease em inglês no período de 1995 a 2023. Foram encontrados 10 resumos que submeteram o artigo completo para análise de inclusão. Os critérios de elegibilidade foram: ensaios clínicos, estudos observacionais e estudos específicos estudos de endometriose com diagnóstico periodontal. Relatos de casos, estudos laboratoriais e estudos sem doença periodontal nos participantes foram excluídos. Os resumos foram avaliados por dois investigadores. Resultados: Após aceitação dos critérios de elegibilidade, dois estudos foram incluídos nesta revisão, um transversal estudo e um estudo caso-controle. Os estudos incluídos não permitem comparação, têm diferentes critérios de diagnóstico periodontal e focar mais na plausibilidade biológica do aumento nas citocinas circulantes no corpo do que nos resultados observados. Conclusão: Atualmente não existe associação entre endometriose e doenças periodontais, os estudos indicam apenas plausibilidade biológica, estudos clínicos com desenho metodológico adequado são necessários para provar tal associação.
