Antigamente eram utilizados outros dispositivos associados à mecânica convencional, como o Bite Block e AEB (Aparelho Extrabucal), porém não eram bem aceitos pelos pacientes, além de depender da colaboração do mesmo. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão bibliográfica para avaliar a eficiência dos mini-implantes para intrusão de molares superiores. Para a inserção dos mini-implantes é necessário uma boa avaliação clínica e radiográfica para a correta localização e inserção dos mini-implantes, já que muitas vezes as regiões aplicadas são interadiculares, necessitando de um bom planejamento e cuidado. A força aplicada para intrusão deve ser bilateral, variando de 100 a 200 gramas de força para não ocorrer inclinações indesejáveis e sim um movimento de corpo, evitando prejudicar o posicionamento dos dentes vizinhos. A instalação deve ser realizada em região de mucosa queratinizada, podendo ser aplicado carga imediatamente à sua instalação.
