Esse método é dividido em cinco etapas: nivelamento, eliminação de interferências oclusais, estabelecimento da nova posição mandibular, reconstrução do plano oclusal e então, obtenção de uma oclusão fisiológica. O apinhamento dentário surge quando não há proporção adequada entre o tamanho dos dentes e o tamanho adequado dos arcos, causando uma má oclusão devido a falta de espaço. Observou-se ao final do tratamento significante modificação dentoalveolar na mandíbula, vestibularização significativa dos incisivos inferiores; e leve vestibularização dos incisivos superiores. Intrusão com respectivo deslocamento ângulodistal dos molares superiores e extrusão com deslocamento ângulomesial dos molares inferiores, ocorreu. Isso resultou na melhora relevante da sobremordida e correção anteroposterior das arcadas dentárias, sem alterar o perfil facial do paciente. Consequentemente, constata-se que o uso do aparato propulsor para correção de má oclusão de Classe II com acentuada discrepância anteroposterior sem extrações, apresentou desfecho positivo com indicadores benéficos para o tratamento do caso, especialmente a mínima dependência da colaboração do paciente. Além disso, é preciso citar que casos de má oclusão ao serem solucionados incidem também para com o bom funcionamento do sistema estomatognático. Dentre as más oclusões é possível citar a de classe II, que aparece como um desafio de correção dentro da ortodontia. A presente pesquisa trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica da literatura científica sobre a utilização dos aparelhos funcionais propulsores mandibulares Twin Force, o PowerScope, o APM, o Herbest e o Forsus, utilizados no tratamento da má oclusão de classe II, ao evidenciar em cada um deles: sua indicação, contraindicação, vantagem, desvantagem, efeitos e principais situações fortuitas (problemas). Por causa disto, neste estudo foram apresentadas informações relevantes sobre o uso de cada um deles, o que permitiu considerar que o tratamento para a classe II com o uso de propulsores mandibulares, determina-se especialmente quando a análise cefalométrica indica que o problema está ocorrendo em função de uma deficiência no crescimento horizontal da mandíbula. Sendo assim, como eles são aparelhos funcionais que atuam por meio da estimulação do crescimento mandibular, resolveriam a má oclusão de classe II.
