Para tanto, foi realizada uma revisão de literatura fundamentada em artigos publicados nos últimos dez anos, compreendendo o período de 2008 a 2018. Através de seleção criteriosa dos materiais, com redações que tratam sobre a temática com profundidade. Como resultados, observou-se que o uso da ancoragem esquelética associada ao planejamento biomecânico possibilita movimentos dentários mais previsíveis e com controle dos efeitos colaterais. Tem eficácia e segurança comprovadas pelo aumento significativo de sua utilização. Para maior estabilidade do tratamento é essencial realizar diagnóstico adequado da etiologia e da má oclusão a ser tratada para a proposta de uma ancoragem adequada.
